With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Studio Art from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Mary was a live-in housekeeper/nanny, a bartender in a Szechuan restaurant, and a cosmetologist before she landed a job as an office manager for a design and printing service in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That was the starting point for learning and practicing graphic design, leading to a career that included working for a weekly newspaper, TDS TELECOM, National Business Furniture, BuySeasons, Inc., and Kalmbach Media, as well as a stint as a drawing and color theory instructor at her local county technical college.
What she loves most about design is translating clients’ goals into websites, emails, and advertising that convey their business personalities. Mary believes that customers who can empathize with brands (and have a clear, simple, and organized interaction with them) will become long-term customers.
